GenerikB ( a youtuber who's currently doing a Lets Play) has a huge raft around 7x6 and it has flipped a few times. so it would take Alot of bases to make it unflippable. If you are at level 7 I believe you get all the parts back; but if only at level 2 or 3 you may only get about 1/3rd or 1/2 of the raw materials back.
