The battery was dead, so I charged it and even left the battery charger hooked up, but the engine will not turn over when the start button is pushed. I have the key in the on position and engine switch to run.

No, the kfx90 is a Kymco. The kfx80 was a Suzuki. The new kfx90 is a four stroke. Kawasaki is no longer in bed with Suzuki so they do not sell the kfx80 or 50 anymore.
